Use a general guide to understand the idea. For button presses, limits and model-specific settings, the manual for your exact model comes first.
Oven and cooker guides
Heating modes, cookware, cleaning, temperature and safe everyday use. Find practical guidance for everyday use and care, with clear safety advice and signs that need professional attention.
Before you start
Stop if you notice burning smells, smoke, sparks, repeated electrical tripping, a serious leak, damaged wiring or unusual heat. Disconnect it only if you can do so safely.
Features, capacities and instructions vary by model. Always follow the rating label, garment or cookware instructions, and the official manufacturer manual.
Start with mode, temperature and cookware
Fan, conventional, grill and specialised modes move heat differently, so a result from one setting should not be compared directly with another. Check the recipe, shelf position, cookware material and whether preheating completed. Use only the cleaning method approved for the exact enamel, catalytic or pyrolytic lining described in the model manual.
When an oven needs professional attention
Uneven results can come from settings or airflow, but repeated failure to heat, uncontrolled temperature, ignition trouble, a damaged door or an electrical warning needs inspection. Stop immediately for gas smell, smoke, sparks, burning electrical odour or repeated tripping. Do not remove covers or test heating components yourself; review the oven and cooker repair process.
Before booking, record the fuel type, selected mode, displayed temperature or code, and whether the problem affects every setting. Do not continue testing a gas appliance with an unexplained smell or ignition problem.
