This library answers common use and care questions. It does not provide instructions for opening appliances, bypassing safety devices or repairing electrical, gas or refrigeration systems.
Washing machine use and care
Use it for a small amount of lightly soiled clothing. It is not intended for a full drum, towels, bedding or deep stains.
It is generally for polyester, nylon and similar fabrics. The load and spin are often lower than Cotton. Check the garment label and model manual.
Eco programs often use time to reduce heating energy. A longer duration does not automatically mean higher electricity use.
The load may be unbalanced, the spin speed may be low, or drainage may be restricted. Redistribute the load and check the user filter as described in the manual.
Follow the detergent label, water conditions, load size and machine type. More detergent does not mean cleaner clothes and can leave residue.
A single absorbent item can become unbalanced. Follow the model guidance and add suitable balancing items only when the fabric instructions allow it.
Many machines estimate again after sensing the load. Water pressure, foam, temperature and balance can also change the displayed time.
Run the manufacturer’s drum-clean cycle when the machine asks or at the interval in the manual. Keep the drum empty and use only approved products.
Refrigerator use and temperature
Around 3°C is a common manufacturer starting point. Confirm your model and use an appliance thermometer if accurate checking is important.
Around -18°C is a common target; some brands recommend -19°C. Follow the exact model manual.
It may be touching the back wall or sitting in front of a cold-air vent. Check airflow, food position and the selected setting.
Warm humid air, blocked drainage, uncovered food or a door that does not close can contribute. A continuing leak needs checking.
Fans, refrigerant, ice makers and cabinet expansion make normal sounds. Grinding, repeated heavy clicking with poor cooling or a fan striking ice needs attention.
Allow several hours with limited door opening. Large changes, new installation or a big food load can take much longer to settle.
Avoid blocking vents. Cold air must move around food, and containers must not prevent the door from closing.
Follow food-safety guidance and your shelf instructions. Divide food into suitable containers and avoid placing steaming pans directly on cold glass.
Dishwasher programs and results
Eco is designed for efficient cleaning of normally soiled dishes and may take longer. Quick suits light, fresh soil and may provide less drying.
Plastic stores less heat than ceramic or metal, so water evaporates less readily. Loading, rinse aid and the chosen drying option also matter.
It depends on the water hardness and machine settings. Dishwasher salt supports the water softener; it is not table salt.
It helps water leave surfaces and supports drying and clearer glass results. Use only dishwasher rinse aid.
No. Hand-washing liquid can create excessive foam and cause leakage or poor operation.
Water hardness, detergent, salt and rinse-aid settings can contribute. Some glass corrosion is permanent.
Remove large scraps. Heavy pre-rinsing is often unnecessary, but follow the dishwasher and detergent instructions.
A small amount may be normal on some models. A tub full of dirty water, an error or a bad smell suggests a drainage issue.
Dryer questions
Check the lint filter, load size, selected program and how well the washer spun the clothes. Restricted airflow or a heating fault can also increase time.
No. Follow care labels. Synthetics, elastic, prints and delicate items can be damaged by high heat.
Sensors estimate moisture and aim to stop at the chosen dryness. Mixed fabrics and very small loads can produce uneven results.
Many models require this. Follow your manual and refit the filter correctly.
The load may already read as dry, the machine may be overheating, or there may be a sensor, airflow or power issue.

Oven and cooker questions
Fan mode circulates hot air. Conventional mode mainly uses top and bottom heat. Recipe temperature and shelf position may need adjustment.
Preheating matters for many cakes, breads and foods needing an immediate set temperature. Follow the recipe and appliance guidance.
Check the selected mode, shelf position, tray size, airflow and whether preheating completed. A heating-element fault is also possible.
Only if the manufacturer explicitly allows it. Foil can block airflow, trap heat and damage some surfaces.
Food spills, grease or unsuitable cookware can smoke. Turn it off for heavy smoke, burning electrical smells or sparks.

Freezer questions
Moist air may enter through frequent opening, a door held open or a poor seal. A defrost problem can also cause repeated heavy frost.
No. Sharp tools can puncture or damage the freezer. Use only the defrost method in the manual.
The door may have been open, warm food may have been added, or the temperature may be rising. Check the display and keep the door closed.
Follow local food-safety guidance. Do not decide only by smell or appearance.
A reasonable load can help temperature stability, but vents and doors must remain clear.

Ice machine questions

Follow the manufacturer schedule. Commercial equipment may need regular professional cleaning and sanitising.

Scale, low water, a lid issue or a control fault can contribute. Descale only as the manual directs.
